Kaplan CFO Solutions Names Letendre as Newest Partner
Kaplan CFO Solutions, a provider of interim CFO services, has announced that Jan Letendre has joined the firm. Letendre comes to Kaplan CFO from the Swain County Public School system where she worked as Financial Officer for nearly six years, managing an annual budget of $20 million.
“Jan has been deeply embedded in the Western North Carolina community for a long time,” said Ken Kaplan, the firm’s CEO. “She brings a strong financial and business leadership background in tourism, recreation and education, which are key sectors in our region. We’re really excited to introduce her to our clients,” he added.
In addition to her position with the Swain school system, Letendre served in a similar capacity with the Mt. Airy schools as interim CFO. She worked for 15 years as Treasurer, CFO and General Partner at Nantahala Village, a $2m resort and meeting center in Bryson City that she and her husband owned until 2005. She also spent seven years providing financial and business management for Nantahala Outdoor Center, a $10m outdoor recreation and resort operation with 500+ employees. The company was recently named “One of the best outfitters on Earth” by National Geographic Adventure.
Originally from Lighthouse Point, in South Florida, Letendre graduated from Florida State University and immediately moved to Charlotte to begin her career as auditor for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell. With the exception of her time with the Mt. Airy school system and a brief engagement with K12 Enterprises, a Microsoft partner located outside Richmond, VA., Letendre has spent the last 33 years working and developing personal and business relationships in Western North Carolina. Her association with Kaplan CFO enables her to extend those relationships further.
“I’m excited to work with a variety of small to medium-sized businesses, in particular those that are growing and stretching the bounds of their success,” she said. “One of the things that is so unusual about this firm is that the CFO partners really play a mentoring role for the clients. I’ve never seen myself as strictly a numbers person. The opportunity to use my financial expertise, business experience, and facilitation skills to help growing companies reach the next level is really inspirational for me,” Letendre added.
With the addition of Letendre, Kaplan CFO now has nine engagement partners representing a wide variety of small and mid-sized business experience and more than 250 years of accumulated knowledge. Currently, it is one of the fastest growing interim CFO firms in the Southeast.
